Where are we Going?

After studying the history of inequality, where do we go? In this unit of our Humanities class Equality, we discussed how the past will affect our futures and what we can do to increase equality. We focused on the issues of race, class and gender, and how they intersect. For this Action Project, our goal was to design a newspaper from the future, choosing a current issue and guessing how it will have changed in about one hundred years. I chose to focus on transgender rights, an issue that is so close to home for me. I imagined a future where we have finally elected our first transgender president, there is universal healthcare that covers specific treatments for trans people, and there is a popular kid's television show that stars a transgender character.
