Building a Better Chicago

This unit, Flow, in our STEAM class Urban Planning, we combined our knowledge from our first two units to try and design entire spaces of a city. We studied the history of some of the neighborhoods of Chicago, specifically Oak Park and Austin, which, despite being across the street from each other, have a large wealth gap and very different make ups. We also went in-depth about the history of the CTA and how much it has changed over the years. To do this, we visited 2 stations on the Brown Line, Quincy, which is the oldest station still in use, and Wabash & Washington, the newest station. It was really interesting to see some of the differences, but I was mainly surprised at how similar they were. For this Action Project, we chose a neighborhood or area and redesigned it to better the community. Thank you for reading!
