This Unit, Dogma, in our class Forbidden Books, we studied the dogmatism of Christianity and Islam in relation to our opinions and beliefs. I enjoyed being able to put myself in others' shoes and learn about belief systems that I was not a part of. I noticed that throughout the unit, the people in our class who were a part of Christianity or Islam seemed to have a harder time seeing the logic behind some of the dogmatic beliefs in a religion that wasn't their own. For this Action Project, we chose a resource that was banned because of dogma and created a presentation to help others understand how and why media is banned because of religion. I decided to research the book and poem Howl by Allen Ginsberg, a revolutionary poet of the Beat Era. Ginsberg's work has been very influential in literature and has been banned hundreds of times.
