This unit, 2.5 dimensions, in our Elective STEAM class Rapid Prototyping, we studied how to calculate distances in 3 dimensions and how to carve, using both the Carvey, a computer numerical controlled (CNC) machine, and by using our hands. For this action project, our goal was to create two plaques that showed a GCE value. I chose to do the GCE value of Purpose, as I explain in my first slide. To help us with this project, we visited the YOUmedia center at Harold Washington Library, where they have many CNC machines available for free for anyone with a Chicago Public Library card.
