This unit, If/Then, in our STEAM class Population, we discussed life expectancy and how it has changed over time for humans. We learned how to show change in population using sequencing, and how to predict future populations. Our Action Project was about comparing a human population to an animal population of our choice. I chose to compare the human population of Texas with the population of cattle there. I found it very interesting to see how one of the most controlled populations in the world react with humans. I had a hard time finding the population of the cows for all ten years, but eventually I found a set of data that covered all that I needed.

a1= 11,700,000
a2= 11,800,000
a3= 11,900,000
J=100,000
This means that every year, 100,000 cows are added to the population. You can find the population of any year using this equation:
an= a1+(n-1) 100,000
an= the number of years in the future
a1= the population of the first year of the set
n-1=the projected year minus one
100,000= the number of years in the future minus one
Humans=b
b1= 27,540,000
b2= 27,690,000
b3= 30,459,000
K=1.1
This means that every year, the population of humans in Texas grows by about 1.1 percent. You can find the population of any year in the future using the equation:
bn= b1(1.1)n-1
bn= the number of years in the future
b1= the population of the first year of the set
1.1= the population growth of each year
n-1= The first year of the set minus one
